Im wondering if its something with the animated apron vehicles that were added. I recall at an unrelated addon airport that my fps would leak catastrophically from those up until i decided to turn them off.

Which bgl should i disable to remove animated apron vehicles?

loaded at night, 747 pmdg, first 5 minutes unplayable then shot up to butter out of the blue. No other airport addon does this.

Now that i think about it, the one action i did before returning to the low fps is a reset of the shader cache.

So, I'm lost too. I'm afraid you should try to get a refund. It seems like your case is too individual/rare to troubleshoot it efficiently, apparently we have no idea what might be wrong. You are the only one reporting such issue and I don't remember the similar problem in the past. Perhaps a manua...

Final verdict, the performance is amazing but getting to it was a little tricky. First of all I'd suggest you stop telling the installer to change the cfg settings, especially without warning the user as it generates confusion. I think resetting the max texture to 2048 fixed all fps issues, the installer forced it to 4096 and it was bad. I'm going to attempt a reinstall to verify that claim.

Ok so i've tested and found that the apronOBJ.bgl cause the highest drop in framerate (making it unplayable for me) reducing to 2048 texture and removing cars/ ramp objects and cars helps a lot but not as much as removing the apronobj.bgl Any idea why i'm getting butter FPS with apronobj disabled?
