Hi guys,

I really am lost here and thought you could help me out -

No matter what I tried, i can never get to load KSEA and orthoxp together - it's either the mesh is good but no phtoreal scenery, or vica versa.

Can you please please help me ? I bought the package from xplane.org store.

Thank you very much in advance.

I'm afraid our scenery is not fully compatibile with Ortho4XP. May I understand that without Ortho4XP everything is correct?

Have you tried to move our Terrain file over any other meshes?

You may try to open scenery_packs.ini file and move the entry ZZZ DD Seattle Airports XP Terrain over other entries related to meshes.

BTW: have you rebuilt the scenery_packs.ini file after installation of our scenery?

Installation Challenge :: Seattle Airports XP

Post by BMoto53 »

Background: Windows 10 | XP11.3 | Software downloaded from the .org store

I'm having a challenge installing this software. I click on the .exe file and run it as Admin. The Installer is not able to automatically find the location where XP resides, so I'm prompted to locate it manually. No problem so far -- that occasionally happens. My XP folder is located on my E:/ Drive, and as the screenshot indicates, for some inexplicable reason, that drive does not appear in the list of available places. Sadly, this is the first time I've experienced this with any software I've ever installed in this manner, so my list of options at this point is a complete unknown.

And while this question applies to Seattle Airports XP, I also purchased Seattle City XP and I'm experiencing the same challenge with it. So, if I can resolve this, then I presume I can resolve that challenge, as well.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

I thought that it's something relating to your registry keys, but it's very strange that our installer don't see your disk. It looks like something very specific to your PC. At this moment I haveno idea, but you should also be able to download our zip file and install our sceneries manually. All steps are described in the pdf file included in the zip files.

This is quite weird. The easiest solution would be to install the product from the ZIP indeed.

Thanks so much for your replies @DD Stanislaw and @Martin_Starski... Yes -- strange, indeed, your Installer would not recognize my E:/ drive [shrug]. As I mentioned, I've never experienced this before, so that added to the mystery.

Anyway, you've referenced the .zip file... I purchased Seattle Airports XP and Seattle City XP from XPlane.org, and what I downloaded was the .exe file -- not a .zip file. That being the case, where would I be able to download the .zip files for both of them?

Thanks for your help!

Hi.
From the same source - you should have 2 file types available - EXE for Windows and ZIP for Mac/Linux. That ZIP file works just as well under Windows so this would be the easiest way to proceed with the install.

BTW, is there a possibility that your E drive has some kind of a non-standard name? I mean - not recognizing the drive is not really dependent on the installer code, as far as I know it simply uses Windows explorer for that window. Right now I haven't got any idea why this might fail in case of your E drive...

"My colleague confirmed the problem with missing and floating buildings - we see the problem with editing mesh in X-plane, even tried to find a temporary fix, but some areas are still under or above the ground. It will be time-consuming to work on each floating or underground building, but we will work on this. However at this moment all our "operating capacities" are focused on the new project, so please forgive us but it will be fixed with the next major update."

This was back in 11 Nov. of 2018. 7 months have passed. See you started another new project, Moscow, but still haven't fixed the mssing buildings, floating buildings, missing helipads in in Seattle XP, Seattle Airports or NY Airports.

RESOLVED || Installation Challenge :: Seattle Airports XP

Post by BMoto53 »

Thanks very much for your reply and suggestion @DD Stanislaw. I'm very pleased to report your 'try the .zip file' suggestion worked exactly as you believed it would. I was able to install Seattle Airports XP and Seattle City XP without any difficulties whatsoever. And having just completed a short flight in the area, I want you to know how excited I am with how everything turned out... The scenery is beautifully detailed -- and definitely a nice visual treat to enhance my flying in this part of the United States.

As for my challenge with the Windows Installer? Yeah -- for some reason, my system just seems to be incompatible with it [shrug]. And looking back at the screenshot I sent, I also noticed my C:/ drive is 'missing in action' too! Oh well... All seems fine now, and in the grand scheme of things, that's all that really matters to me. 8)

Thanks again for your prompt assistance [and to @Martin_Starski, as well].

P.S. Looking forward to getting your Chicago City XP and Chicago Airports XP next...
