[PREVIEW] Tokyo City / Airports

Post by DD Stanislaw » Monday 24 Jun 2019, 05:37

We are happy to announce that our next major city+airports project will be... TOKYO! :P

The Tokyo project is planned to be developed and published in a similar way as Chicago and Seattle (City + Airports) and the Airports part will include at least two airports. Tokyo is a fairly flat city and this time we will try to use more automation and batch processing limiting the autogen use. Hopefully this would give some epic (and performance-friendly) visuals.

As all our new products, this one will be developed with 64-bit platforms in mind but we plan to make it backwards compatible with 32-bit platforms.

No, there is no release date.

Yes, we plan to develop the X-Plane version too. ;)

Do we need pictures? Oh yes, absolutely, as always. If you work, operate or just visit Narita or Haneda we would highly appreciate you sharing any pictures with us.

Happy New Year.
any update, progress. I have been waiting for a nice Tokyo, Japan airport for a long time, sadly a lot of developers seem to be stuck in age of FS2004 and have not brought there modelling up to your standard.

Hi.
Yes, there is progress indeed, however we also wish to ensure the maximum compatibility with the upcoming FS2020. We will publish some preview screenshots later this month.

Hello Stanislaw,

thanks a lot for your recent Tokyo previews. As I have been in Tokyo a couple of times and I love its airports, I am looking forward to the day the product becomes available.

The reason for my post ... I realize only today that RJTT / Haneda has two new ILS approaches (and two more RNAV(GNSS) approaches) to runways 16L and 16R, previously only accessible via visual flight procedures. The procedures are available since last week (e.g. available in Jeppesen/Navigraph, the AIP etc... ) and are - from what I understand from the internet - currently on trial (see e.g. https://www.flightradar24.com/data/flig ... 6#23c05fb0 ) , to be regularly available as of March. There are already some youtube videos showing these approaches from the cabin.

I would be much delighted if these approaches and the corresponding navaids make it into the release product.

Not sure about the approach lighting, there might have been changes to the approacs lights for 16L/R as well (now HIALS, was SSALS at least back in 2008).

Thanks,
Markus

Hello Stanislaw,

thanks for the quick feedback, thanks for looking at it.

Just a quick update ... I was able to retrieve a September 2017 PDF printout of the Jeppesen charts for RJTT from my chart archive. The airport taxi chart (10-9) and the airport info chart (10-9A) definitely indicate an update of the approach light system from SSALS (September 2017 chart) to HIALS (Januar 2019 chart), which probably correlate with the introduction of the ILS 16L/R.

Also, the charts seem to indicate displaced thresholds now (which are not shown on the older 2017 chart), you'll notice in the Jeppesen charts.

Thanks again,
Markus
