FeelThere will handle it in a different way - but you obviously will get the discount.

Looks stunning! I just purchased it for my P3Dv3 but maybe I do something wrong: I have some blocks randomally flicker in Black as shown in the video

Flickering Blocks

Why is this happening and how can I fix it?
Appreciate your support
With Kind Regards,
Moshe

Hi.
Well, these are simply textures loading - you can't fix this unless you don't use textures at all. They need to load sometime. What you can do is to make that loading happen faster - by decreasing some rendering options.

Please do not quote full posts. [sd]

Other sceneries (for example ORBX) also use textures (I guess  ) but I never saw this there. Any special reason why this specific scenery shows these?

Thanks for the document!

Moshe

Yes - but please tell me which ORBX city scenery has 6500 custom-made and textured buildings (we are not counting autogen) so we could compare both sceneries.

You are correct. I was using NYC from aerosoft with my late FSX and did not have this issue. I understand texture loading but was dissapointed from it being so noticable in Black. Anyway, we can not compare the simulators nor the addons or performance. I was hoping to find a solution because I liked your work and don't feel like uninstalling it. Thank you anyway, appreciate your time to answer.

It is still uncomparable in terms of the amount of objects. Anyway the performance in comparison to the previous version (v1) was increased by about 100-150% with some sophisticated techniques, so as for now I don't think this could be done any better. However, according to simmers reports, P3Dv3 has even better performance and texture loading times, so maybe it might be a sim to think about in the future.

Hello,
Recently I bought the superb NewYork City X V2.0
Unfortunately, after install I notice a problem:
All buildings remain at solid black colour, instead of textured.
- the ground textures are all OK.
- the default buildings (eg. JFJK) have textures.

Additional info:
- Prepar 3D v3, Windows 10, 32 GB RAM, Nvidia Titan
- New York City X installed OK (textures on buildings) under my previous version Prepar 3D v2.5
- I de-activated norton antivirus, during install. I runned installer as administrator.
- I installed into main directory of Prepar 3D v3: G:\P3D\Addon scenery\York City X

I performed following tests, without succces (solid black colour on buildings):
- de-activated norton antivirus, during flight in Prepar 3D v3: problem remains.
- de-activated all potential conflicting add-ons: Mega scenery earth New-York, KJFK (FSDT)
- tried re-install of York City X
- tried install into another directory.
- I reduced the graphic settings into prepar 3D: medium resolution (1024) and back to 2048 pix, building cast/receive shadows.
- During installation of New York City X, I selected building low texture option and another time building high texture option.

Thanks in advance for any support.

Loving the update! Works amazingly on my mid-range PC. Thank you!

Question - do we still use the season switcher with this version?

Hi. This means that texture are not located in the same product's folder as models. Without any specific details I am not able to say why that happened. You might contact me via e-mail and we might establish the TeamViewer session so I could look at this myself.

Texture Switcher was never required for the NYC package, even in v1.

Good news: the problem solid black 3D buildings New York City X is solved :)

I changed the properties of the New York City X folder and subfolder "Textures": security to "full authority" for user.
Then in Prepar3Dv3 all HD textures became alive and problem got solved.

Now I really enjoy the superb day and night textures of all 3D buildings.
I obtain good frame rate (20 fps) in Ultra HD and plenty of buildings, and Megascenery earth and KJFK active.
Also the buildings appearing between fog &and haze: magnificient.

Cannot find Hudson ditching mission

Post by daviddiamond »

Just installed New York City X for FSX and love it! Truly impressive. However, I am unable to find the mission mentioned in the release notes. Any help in finding and running this would be appreciated. Thanks.
