Next step: EPSJ Sobienie. A rather new, private airport and a flying school, located about 40km South of Warsaw center. First picture - calibrated high quality ground image (FS9).

Something not every Varsovian knows about - a little private heliport located South of the city (it is actually hard to find!). Since the owner (one of the best Polish race drivers) flies on FS himself, we decided to model it more detailed.

I think it was the owner who we flew with in our RB44 flight earlier this year - he turned up in a white Porsche 911, so it wasn't the cleaner ;-) I sent you a couple of photos I think. If not, let me know and I'll send some more. I wish I had known he was a simmer, I would have said something.

Gavin, it is actually you who told me about the heliport - I didn't know about it either!
Yes, he was the owner.

Where are ants and bugs? Really are hidden inside the electric box shown at the right side of the building?

A little progress. I'd like to finish this airport by Wednesday, before a few-day trip...

During some winter test flights the landing at Sobienie was really challenging, since it was hard to spot the runway. Taxiing wasn't much easier since you need to make a switch from grass to concrete and obviously to know where it happens to take care of the throttle. Otherwise you can easly end in shrubs trying to turn too fast. A Tower Man controlls your every move. Be carefull not to crash that gas station. Fuel is very expensive...

After shuting down everything seems to be good - noone is shouting at us. It seems like the couple in front of me have just landed too. Lets talk to them...

It is getting dark during winter very quickly. There are not too many lights in Sobienie but we can feel safe at Mr. KK's office upstaris, where the control tower is actually located. If your landing was good enough, he will give you a cup of tea.
