I've just spent a chunk of time trying to get KPAE to work in FS24. I hit the Start Flight button, and it just sits there. Forever. I can back out to the main screen and exit, but it freezes and I have to do a hard quit. Removing the scenery solves the issue. I'm using v1.2 from Simmarket. I've tried reinstalling a few times with different options selected. I have no issues with the FS20 version.
For what it's worth, I've had this problem with some large airport add-ons in MSFS 2024, including initially with KPAE. It can take forever for FS24 to load the airport the first time, and sometimes it gets stuck. I reversed the start/destination locations and started from nearby Harvey with KPAE set as the destination and it loaded. From then on, I could start successfully at KPAE. (Because MSFS2024 had done whatever processing/caching it does on KPAE, I guess?) Even then, it took a really long time to load the flight the first time, though it was quick after that.
Also, before you try again, I'd clear the FS2024 cache (change the size to a smaller one, then change it back, to ensure it gets erased). I've found that can solve loading loops.

Thank you for your suggestion, unfortunately those files do not change the situation. Stuck on loading screen and unable to exit the sim.
FYI, the files I replaced had a time stamp of July or August 2023, so long before MSFS 2024 existed, if that's relevant.
Have you removed the previous version before installing the new v1.2?
Can you let us know what are the modification dates of layout.json and manifest.json?
It should have been solved in v1.2, so it's very weird.

Yes I removed the previous version before v1.2 . But I'll do it again so I can get you the precise file modification dates. I'll report back!

Bingo! Scenery loads fine if the factory interior is installed as well.
I then removed the scenery again, disabled the interior once again on install, and the issue re-appeared. So no factory = not loading / sim won't close.
I then tried this on my second sim PC, same result, won't load if interior is deselected.
