openSAM for X-Plane

openSAM
...is a shared animation and systems library for X-Plane, designed to provide common infrastructure for modern scenery features.

It is used by scenery developers to handle elements such as:
  • animated jetways,
  • docking and guidance systems,
  • service vehicles,
  • and other airport ground animations.
Instead of each scenery shipping its own custom animation logic, openSAM acts as a central, reusable library. This improves compatibility between different sceneries, reduces conflicts, and allows updates to be delivered independently of individual airport products.

openSAM is:
  • free to use,
  • actively maintained,
  • installed separately from the scenery itself.
Some of our X-Plane 12 sceneries require openSAM to be present in order to function correctly. If openSAM is not installed, certain animations or systems may not work as intended, even though the scenery itself may still load.
