Also... in MSFS 2024 at night most buildings on the National Mall and the National Cathedral look like they were radioactive  Are these yours or CU9 that I'm seeing?

Hi

I am using Washington Landscapes V2 in both MSFS 2020 / 2024.

Well done on a great product(s).

Out of interest I do not see the bright lights reported by 'ironlemon' although, in MSFS 2024 the lights on the National Gallery of Art-East Building are bright on the roof (not sure if they are like that in real life).

The rear of the Capitol Building in MSFS 2020 has a grey checkered area, which I belive is correct in real life, however, in MSFS 20204 it just appears as a large greyshape (think texturing is missing) and it really does stick out like a sore thumb and requires correcting.

Hope the above is of assistance.

Let me check it with my colleagues. By the way - have you checked if it's correct without our scenery? Have you tried to set the higher priority for our scenery?
ironlemon wrote: Tuesday 04 Mar 2025, 04:40 I just purchased Washington Landmarks v2. Just to verify - do we have to uninstall City Update 9 or is it compatible?
They should complement each other.

I'm afraid this is a very individual thing - for some users, the lights are too dark, for others - too bright or fully fine. It's even mentioned in one of previous posts that the other user doesn't see such bright lights. There are different graphic cards, monitor settings, graphic settings, and - finally - different tastes, which we probably cannot fully satisfy.

I haven’t checked without your scenery or altered the scenery layer as I said it’s all good in 2020 just not 2024.

Come on guys, let's be serious. There's a fine line between an "artistic compromise" and "payware so awkward it looks worse than the freeware around it and completely breaks the immersion" - even on some machines. I would understand this argument if any of my hardware/software/settings was making the whole sim look overblown at night but this is literally just your buildings glowing like alien ships and nothing else. And mind you, the screenshots I posted above are toned down since they're SDR captures of a HDR screen - IRL these lights look literally blinding, even though my HDR monitor has just peak 350 nits.

I neither have some out-of-this-world specs nor settings and I can provide all of those if this would help (see below). Really, I would appreciate at least SOME kind of support considering I don't have this problem with any other payware/freeware city pack that's marked as MSFS 2024-compatible (and I have dozens of them).

Specs:
i9-13900K
32 GB DDR5 5600MHz
RTX 4080 (Nvidia drivers 572.60)
Windows 11 Pro 24H2
MSFS 2024 SU1 1.3.24.0

Other addons possibly or directly affecting DC area - DD's KDCA, Flightbeam KIAD, Bijan's seasons, Mamudesign power lines & solar farms.

I'm serious - first of all, we cannot replicate your problem. Secondly, these are not our objects. If you uninstall our scenery, this brightness is fine then?

Can you check, please? It looks like some textures overlap as everything should look fine there. In MSFS 2024, City Update 9 must be installed, even before installing our scenery. In MSFS 2020 it's a must to have three default packages as stated in the installer.

ironlemon, something is installed incorrectly which is evident from the mesh issues (terrain weird slopes). Regarding the lit objects - never seen that. Seems like some extreme bloom settings.

Oval Office views in Washington Landmarks V2

Post by retnavycpo »

I had previously purchased your Washington Landmarks V1, and took a look at your preview photos of V2. My question is about the Oval Office pictures. It shows, I think, President Trump's hands extending across his desk, and I assume VP J.D. Vance on one couch, and Melania Trump seated across from him. My question is, if, when in the sim, I take a look inside the Oval Office, will I see President Trump, seated at his desk? Pete

See, this is where my confusion came from - I first asked if these were yours or CU9 and you said you cannot adjust the level of brightness for every user, suggesting these were your buildings. Now you're saying they're not yours :D

...and indeed they're not, I disabled your package and I see the same glowing buildings so I'm assuming these have to be either CU9 or default? Your package must have loaded correctly, I saw all the new starred airports (like the Nellis base), White House with Oval Office etc. - it's just that bunch of buildings around the Mall that is overlapped. Also, I noticed 2 different problems:

The satellite image around the Washington Monument/White House is grey:
Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 05.03.2025 11_59_51.png
And I seem to have the same issue as the user above with the back of the Capitol:
Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 05.03.2025 12_00_20.png

If that's the case, how do I get the priority straight? So far I've tried:
1. Moving Washington Landmarks all the way to the bottom of Package Reorder Tool.
2. Disabling and reenabling CU9.
3. Deleting StreamedPackages for redownload.
4. Deleting SceneryIndexes.
5. Deleting Rolling Cache file.
(points 3-5 I did repeatedly before every sim restart just in case)

Also, if that's worth noting - after disabling CU9 and trying without it, the only thing that changed was some TIN data and satellite image. The custom glowing buildings were still there - so where could they be coming from if they're neither from CU9 nor from Washington Landmarks? Is there any other WU/CU that might have added those that I can try recycling?

After some additional testing - it looks like the glowing buildings belong to WU10 (microsoft-unitedstates-point-of-interest), not CU9.

I just noticed something interesting in 2020 as well. On one hand, the issues like grey grass and messed up Capitol entrance are not present there and everything looks great. On the other - it seems like the buildings that glow in 2024 are also present in 2020 instead of yours, it's just they don't have the bloom issue there. Do you have your own objects for these landmarks that should override those or did you not model them at all?

Negative, Sir. Our Landmarks and Microsoft objects complement one another and create a sort of synergy to get the best possible performance.

I did a search on this forum but couldn't find anything relevant. MSFS2024 install via Orbx store doesn't work for me.
It seems the buildings in the city are great but the airport graphics are all white. If I leave the drzewiecki kdca
in then all the buildings are purple. Please advise. If I use only kdca but ot the Landmarks everything at the
airport is ok but the city is default. Help?

I'm afraid your description is not very precise for me. Please provide more details on what is installed and how it is seen. It would definitely be good to provide some screenshots here.

My understanding is that you have a combo of KDCA + Washington Landmarks. Both were installed via ORBX in MSFS2024. Have you tried to remove the sceneries and install them again? Before doing a new install, please do some basic steps: clear the rolling cache, rebuild SceneryIndexes and install the scenery again via ORBX.
